Northbrook Hilton Receives Wireless Face-Lift

The Chicago/Northbrook Hilton Hotel and Convention Center has recently received a system upgrade to their in-building wireless system from Wireless Concepts International. One of the premier meeting and conference centers in the area, located just 12 miles from O’Hare International Airport. The hotel features 248 deluxe guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of Banquet Room and Conference Center.

Wireless Concepts was asked to design and install a 4G upgrade for the entire hotel. The design was modeled as an active distributed antenna system (DAS), and replaced the passive system, that was limited to the lobby and reception areas. The scope of the design added coverage to 10 floors on the East and West Towers. The 4G footprint now covers 198,000 plus square feet of the hotel.

More and more people have gone wireless and demand for faster wireless service anytime and anyplace is definitely growing. The Chicago/Northbrook Hilton has added a cutting edge amenity to their list, 4G wireless coverage anywhere inside the hotel. Hotel room, dining room, business meeting, conference goers, and guests celebrating special events, will now have access to 4G services. Apple Looks to Enhance In Building Wireless Coverage at its New Chicago Lincoln Park Store

Lincoln Park has long been one of Chicago’s premiere downtown lakefront communities. It is also home to a large number of national retailers. It prides itself on its reputation as a premiere retail, dinning, social and cultural destination. Apple has now joined the list of premiere retailers in the community by opening a new retailer store in October of 2010.

The Chicago downtown area has been a major market for their partner Carrier for some time now. Apple had no problem with signal strength on the upper floor of the new site. However, the lower level of the facility was another story. Anyone wishing access to voice, data and web access from their iPhone or handheld device was required to be on the upper level.

So, Apple turned to Wireless Concepts International to design a system to improve in building coverage in its lower level administrative area. Wireless Concepts designed and deployed a reasonably priced, custom Distributed Antenna System to boost signal quality. Problem solved!

With a significant boost in signal strength, the staff is no longer limited to the upper level only. Customers, employees and leadership team could now enjoy uninterrupted coverage in the lower levels as well. Omni Hotel in Chicago Becomes Even More Hospitable With Help From Wireless Concepts

The Omni Hotel, featuring all luxury suites, was looking to add cellular coverage to their Michigan Ave. location in Chicago. The hotel is located in the heart of the Magnificent Mile with easy access to some of Chicago’s finest shopping, parks, museums and some of the most beautiful areas of Chicago’s lakefront.

Wireless Concepts International, LLC designed and installed one of its turnkey IBS solutions allowing cellular access throughout the hotel and luxury suites. Guests, employees and visitors can now access anytime and anywhere voice and data services from one of the major carriers. Using a Smartphone, guests now have access to all sorts of information, such as looking up directions, locating a restaurant, their favorite shops, purchasing tickets online and staying in touch with friends and loved ones.

Wireless Concepts in-building solution was modeled as an active distributed antenna system (DAS) with an over the air (OTA) repeater front end, designed for dual-band capability able to accommodate up to 10 CDMA channels allowing for current usage and any future macro network donor channels.

Using a rack mounted bi directional amplifier (BDA) with expansion hubs, active fiber network and 44 serving antennas throughout the building, the hotel now has coverage on the 3rd and 4th floor (Registration Lobby, Ballroom, Meeting Rooms) and all luxury suites on the 5th-25th floors.

Wireless Concepts International Supports 4G LTE Roll Out for Major Carrier

A major carrier has taken another step in its 4G LTE strategy. After upgrading its 4G LTE macro network in a major Midwestern market, it now needed to deploy its 4G services to its retail stores, enabling its retailers to demonstrate its 4G capabilities.

The carrier was looking for a low cost in-building DAS and a company that could deploy the system in time for the holiday shopping season. The carrier turned to Wireless Concepts for a design solution.

Wireless Concepts has designed and deployed its 4G LTE DAS solution to 10 retailers and to 2 major shopping malls in the Chicago and greater Chicago areas. Wireless Concepts has designed a cost effective system to coexist with existing in-building technology and allow users to access existing technology and 4G LTE services. The Wireless Concepts design solution proved that it could be deployed quickly to multiple locations with minimal impact to the sales floor, which is very important, especially during the busy holiday shopping season.

Wireless Concepts Enhances Cellular Capacity and Coverage at Lambeau Field, Bringing Enhanced Cellular Access to 72,928 Fans

Lambeau Field, home of the NFL Green Bay Packers and one of the most historic and prestigious Stadiums in the National Football League, has added yet another feature to its list of new amenities to improve the total stadium experience for NFL fans. Lambeau was looking to extend wireless coverage to anyone within the hallowed grounds of stadium, and parking areas, thus allowing fans, employees and visitors access to 3G, and soon to be 4G, voice and data technology from the venue carrier.

Wireless Concepts International, LLC designed a hybrid solution with two components, an indoor and outdoor portion to meet the demand for capacity and coverage. Their hybrid design would bring in-building coverage, and increase capacity in seating areas and parking areas. Working with one of the major cellular providers, their design solution included their turnkey IBS with active DAS, covering 905,000sq.ft of in building and the parking areas.

Wireless Concepts began by taking advantage of some of their existing fiber backbone and designed, installed, deployed and optimized their solution with:

• 1 plus miles of copper
• 6 outdoor microcell serving antennas (outdoor/indoor coverage – capacity driven)
• 6 high-power microcell remote units (outdoor/indoor coverage – capacity driven)
• 37 indoor serving antennas (indoor coverage – coverage driven)
• 20 indoor remote units (indoor coverage – coverage driven).

Thanks to Wireless Concepts, 72,000 plus fans, and thousands of additional, stadium employees, athletes, performers, media and tailgaters could now enjoy uninterrupted, clear and consistent mobile services from the venue carrier. The stadium grounds, now had the capacity required to stay in touch with friends and family, access internet, and share photos of their experience from Lambeau’s restaurants, shops, seating and parking areas.
